Ezebrix

Description / Properties

Ezetimibe is a lipid regulating drug that inhibits the intestinal absorption of cholesterol. Ezetimibe is used as an adjunct to dietary measures and statin in primary and homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia.

Indications

Primary Hypercholesterolemia: Ezebrix is indicated as adjunctive therapy to diet for the reduction of elevated total-C, LDL-C, and apo B in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia

Dosage & Administration

The patients should be placed on a standard cholesterol-lowering diet before receiving Ezebrix and should continue on this during treatment with Ezebrix. The recommended dose of Ezebrix is 10 mg once daily. Ezebrix can be administered with or without food. Ezebrix may be administered with an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor for incremental effect. For convenience the daily dose of Ezebrix may be taken at the same time as the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor according to the dosing recommendations for the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. Patient with Renal insufficiency: No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with mild insufficiency. GERIATRIC PATIENTS: No dosage adjustment is necessary in geriatric patients. Co-administration with Bile Acid Sequestrants: Dosing Ezebrix Should occur either 2 hours before or 4 hours after a bile acid sequestrant.

Presentations Available

Ezebrix is available for oral administration as Ezebrix Tablets 10mg. Each tablet contains Ezetimibe 10mg. Ezebrix (Ezetimibe) 10mg is available as white color tablets in blister packets of 10's.
