Active Ingredients
AMINOPHYLLINE 32 mg
AMMONIUM CHLORIDE 30 mg
DIPHENHYDRAMINE 8 mg
MENTHOL 0.98 mg
Indications
Productive Cough, Smokers’ Cough, Cough Associated With Asthma And Cough Due To Bronchitis And Due To Other Respiratory Diseases.
Contraindication
HYDRYLLIN should not be given to patients with active peptic ulcers or acute myocardial infarction. It should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to its components. Because of its diphenhydramine component, HYDRYLLIN should be used in caution and in consultation with physician in asthmatic patients.
Drug Interactions
The Aminophyllin component may interact with other sympathomimetic drugs and monoamineoxidase inhibitors to produce enhanced toxicity, and HYDRYLLIN should be avoided within the 14 days after the suspension of such therapy. HYDRYLLIN should not be used with other drugs having anticholinergic properties. The diphenhydramine component may cause drowsiness and may potentiate the effects sedatives, hypnotics, tranquilizers and alcohol.
Side Effects
Aminiophyllin may cause nausea, vomiting, anorexia, dizziness, headache, nervousness, cardiac arrhythmias, increase in respiratory rate and urticaria. Diphenhydramine may cause drowsiness, restlessness, confusion, dryness, of the nose, mouth and throat, nasal stuffiness, urinary retention, blurring of vision. In overdose, it may cause convulsions and coma. Overdoses should be treated with gastric lavage and supportive therapy. Physostigmine may be useful in management of of sever diphenhydramine induced anticholinergic effects.
Warning and Precautions
Some patients particularly children may be unusually sensitive to aminophylline. HYDRYLLIN should be used with care in conditions such as, angle-closure glaucoma, urnary retention, or prostatic hyperplasia. Patients should be cautioned against operating motor vehicles or machinery while taking HYDRYLLIN. Caution is required in patients with sever cardiac disease, coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure, hypertension, history of peptic ulcer or thyrotoxicosis. Safety in pregnancy has not been established. Safety in lactation is also not established since diphenhydramine and other constituents may be excreted in the breast milk. Dosage
2-6 Years: ¼ to ½ of a 5ml Teaspoon Every 4-6 Hours as indicated
6-12 Years: ½ to 1 5 ml Teaspoon Full Every 4-6 Hours as indicated
12 Yeas And Above: 1 to 2 5ml Teaspoon Full Every 4-6 Hours as indicated
